We understand that members may face difficulty in meeting loan and other commitments due to any number of circumstances, often for reasons beyond their control.
These may include:
Reduced working hours
Injury or illness
Unfortunate financial choices
If you are experiencing conditions of financial difficulty, the best thing you can do is to take action. If you do nothing, the problems are not likely to go away, and in fact, may get worse.
We have always offered support and assistance to members during times of financial difficulty and we remain committed to doing so. Responsible lending is part of our member service.
Can anyone use this service?
All members are able to use our financial hardship assistance service through our Member Finance Support team. This team is experienced in handling situations involving financial difficulty and will take the time to understand and review your current circumstances. Solutions tailored to help you manage your commitments with us can be provided where appropriate.
The type of assistance that we provide varies depending on individual needs and circumstances, but may include:
Tailored repayment arrangements
Deferred or reduced repayments
Extending the term of a loan contract
Referral to external financial counselling services
"You have an outstanding frontline team at the Lismore Office; a team that I have become very familiar with and it is a pleasure to visit the branch. I continue to recommend the credit union as an alternative to the banks. I know that I wouldn't have my business anywhere else."
